'Home is your corner of the world'. ♥ (Ilse Crawford) The biggest job of a military spouse is creating your corner of the world, that refuge, that safe haven for the military member to return to. Said Charles Dickens, "Home is a name, a word, it is a strong one; stronger than magician ever spoke, or spirit ever answered to, in the strongest conjuration." It is a big task to undertake--in our current world it's nearly a war in and of itself--to create such a magical sanctuary, to keep the home-fire burning bright while our spouses go out into the world to make the world safer, to make it better. The 48th SFSG recognizes the troubles you face and our hope is to bear you up, to give you a respite (if only once a month) and to give you support in any way we can, so that you in turn can provide that respite and support for your families. We are here to help you win your battles and to be triumphant in your endeavors to create a safe haven within whatever walls you may reside.

Childcare for Socials

Spouses, please take the time to read through our Childcare Provider Contract.  It has all the information you will need to be aware of if you are planning on using the Childcare Provider during our monthly socials this year.  Thanks :)

The Childcare Provider for the 48th SF Spouses’ Group is contracted to baby-sit the children of the group’s members during our monthly socials to be held the first Thursday of each month October 2011 to May 2012 between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m.  The Childcare Provider will arrive fifteen minutes prior the meeting and stay until the meeting is concluded or until all children have been signed out of the Provider’s care by their parents.

The 48th SF Spouses’ Group guarantees the Childcare Provider a minimum of $20 payment for each meeting.  Spouses will be charged $3 per child, with an exception of spouses with deployed husbands who will not be charged for childcare services.  Any money paid for childcare that exceeds the $20 guarantee will be the profit of the Childcare Provider.

Children under one year of age are allowed in the Socials with their mothers as lap babies.  Children between the ages of eight months and 18 months may be present at the Social or taken to the Childcare Provider at the discretion of the parent.  All children older than 18 months and under the age of 12 years are preferred to be under the care of the Childcare Provider during the Socials.  For children of any age with Special Needs considerations will be made on a case-by-case basis as to what will best suit the needs of the child and his/her parent.

All children must be signed in and out of the Childcare Providers care.  The Childcare Provider is required to keep all children together in the designated room of the AFRC building were the Socials will be held.  The 48th SF Spouses’ Group will provide entertainment (toys, movies, crayons and paper, etc) for the children under the Childcare Providers care.  If any child presents symptoms of an illness they may be taken back to his/her parents.  Any child that presents a physical threat (i.e. hitting, kicking, pinching, biting, spitting, etc.) to the Childcare Provider or the other children under her care will be taken to his/her parent.  Any child that presents an emotional threat (i.e. tantrums, name calling, bullying, etc) to the Childcare Provider or other children may also be taken to his/her parent.

Meet this years sitter, Maryn Carpenter: Age 14.

My name is Maryn Carpenter. Hmmmm..... things about me? I love to swim (not laps just with friends), paint, read, play video games, and talk, pretty much with anybody. I have taken the Red Cross babysitting course and have lots of experience in babysitting. I hope that I can be there and do my best.
